 Chelsea Liker, Behavioral Health Coach

“The highlight of my virtual work experience has been working alongside a community of coaches to support members from all over the world to live in alignment with their own personal values and desires. I truly feel like I'm making a difference in each member's day, while always feeling supported by my teammates.”

Chelsea Liker, Behavioral Health Coach

You do the head work, we’ll do the legwork.

At Ginger, we’re hyper focused on eliminating the obstacles that prevent you from doing your best work. We start by lifting the burden of being on call 24/7: You can’t counsel moderation when your own work/life balance is out of whack.

Next, we tackle all those tedious tasks that sap your energy and cut into your care time. Whether you’re currently managing a private practice, working in a community center, or employed by another telehealth provider, you know how challenging the administrative side of healthcare has become. Staying on top of all the paperwork and coordinating with insurers can quickly become a full-time endeavor. Not so at Ginger. Our virtual back office always has your back.

No more:

  • 24/7 On-Call Support
  • Coordinating/Negotiating with Insurers
  • Reporting
  • Billing
  • Advertising
  • Patient Acquisition
  • Office Overhead
  • Equipment Expenditures
  • Costly cancellations
  • Tax time surprises

Ginger does everything for you. We even cover the cost of wifi.

Tech that helps you do what you do best.

At Ginger, we leverage technology to inform our care, personalize the member experience, and deliver better outcomes more quickly.

Our unique platform analyzes chat transcripts and other data points to help coaches provide effective support for each member in their care. Plus, automated workflows and administrative tasks help to ensure no one ever falls through the cracks.

Ginger’s electronic health record (EHR) system also notifies clinicians when a member completes a survey and whenever they receive a collaboration note from another member of the care team.

A collaborative care model that improves outcomes.

At Ginger, you’ll be part of a care team that includes coaches, therapists, and psychiatrists who work together to create personalized member care plans. Ginger’s secure, easy-to-use system allows for visibility across the care team to ensure everyone has access to the same information.

All care roles are 100% remote.

Ryan Engelstad, Therapist

“The flexibility offered while working at Ginger is unbelievably supportive. While working remotely, I’ve gained a virtual village of support and encouragement that affords me the opportunity to reach people across the globe.”

Lex Harper, Behavioral Health Coach

A true sense of belonging.

We’re building a thoughtful, culturally diverse, and compassionate care team. You’ll fit right in.

We’re mission-driven and focused on supporting our team members so that they are able to support our members. We're working hard to ensure Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) is at the center of everything we do. We recently launched our ERG program as directed by our DEIB Program Specialist. We've also done a considerable amount of work on racial justice in the past year with our Affinity Groups.

Mental health issues disproportionately impact marginalized and under-resourced groups. With this in mind, Ginger is dedicated to leveling the playing field and reducing the barriers to care for underrepresented populations and those experiencing the intersectionality of identity.

On average, 25-50% of our trainings cover topics related to DEIB, from cultural competence to working with particular groups. Recent examples include Supporting Spanish-Speaking Members; Providing Gender Affirming Care to Trans and Non-binary Individuals; and Cultural Considerations: Looking at Domestic Violence through a South Asian Perspective.

We can’t accomplish our vision unless we address systemic racism, cultural bias in the field of mental health, and racial trauma.

“At Ginger I’m able to work a schedule that allows me to spend quality time with my little one. Thanks to the wellness benefit, I’ve been able to build a home gym and work out again! I also appreciate that Ginger contributes to organizations like Black Lives Matter that help bring change for people who look like me. And more than anything, I have a supervisor who challenges me to step out of my comfort zone and climb, and a team that’s as dedicated to supporting each other as they are supporting our members.”

What’s it like to be a Ginger coach?

Ginger’s behavioral health coaches help members overcome emotional challenges from relationship and sleep issues to anxiety and depression—all through text-based chats. As a coach, you’ll work 4 days a week, 10 hours a day, for a total of 40 hours a week. Shifts vary.

Although you’ll work remotely, you’ll have the chance to collaborate with other coaches, and with therapists and psychiatrists as needed. You’ll also receive weekly training, a professional development allowance, and have the opportunity to advance from from Coach to Senior Coach to Shift Lead to Coach Manager to Senior Coach Manager. To learn more about what it’s like to be a Ginger coach, check out this short video or reach out to a member of our team.

What’s it like to be a Ginger therapist?

Ginger therapists work on a measurement-based, solution-focused care model. Unlike on-demand coaching which is text-based, therapy sessions at Ginger are scheduled, and they’re conducted over a HIPAA-compliant video conferencing platform.

Therapists work 40 hours a week and are expected to deliver 95 sessions/month. You will have full flexibility over your schedule, either Monday through Friday or on the weekends. Also, you will have mandatory team clinical meetings that take place during PST hours.

Our member support team will schedule all therapy sessions for you and track the number of sessions you conduct using our EHR system. Before you see a member/patient, they will have already communicated with a coach and signed a consent and release form. You’ll have online access to their patient profile, including clinical records, tests, surveys, and diagnosis. And, you’ll never have to worry about billing patients or purchasing liability insurance. Ginger’s finance team takes care of that for you.

At Ginger we really value collaboration. All Ginger therapists join what we refer to as a “pod,” a group of fellow clinicians who meet weekly to exchange ideas, solicit feedback, and support one another. Each pod is supervised by a therapy manager who you’ll also meet with for a weekly one-on-one. All therapy managers have been promoted internally from therapist positions, so they have firsthand knowledge of what it’s like to be a Ginger therapist. We’re especially proud to report that our therapy managers consistently receive rave reviews from their direct reports.

Ginger provides therapists with a $3,000 professional development allowance which you can use toward continuing education units. Ginger also provides assistance with renewals, cross-licensing, and more.

Finally, as a Ginger therapist, you’ll have flexibility in the modalities you use as long as they are evidence-based practices and you are operating in our measurement-based care model. This means that you must set clear goals and measures for tracking progress to determine when a member has met their established goals.

To learn more about what it’s like to be a Ginger therapist, please reach out to a member of our team.

What’s it like to be a Ginger psychiatrist?

Ginger psychiatrists enjoy flexible hours. Apart from scheduled team meetings, you are free to set your own hours. As a full-time* employee, you’ll work a 40-hour week and spend 75 percent of your time  (30 hours) seeing patients.  You’ll divide the remaining 10 hours between weekly meetings, special projects, and coordinating care.

There are no “on-call” requirements for Ginger psychiatrists and you never have to cover for a colleague's patients when they are out. You don’t have to work holidays or weekends either.

Ginger’s care model refers complex cases out to more appropriate resources. So, you’ll never see high-acuity or high-risk patients, and you won’t be prescribing habit-forming medications or controlled substances.

You’ll conduct your tele-psychiatry sessions over a HIPAA-compliant video conferencing platform. The first session with a member is 60 minutes and follow-up sessions are 30 minutes. You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to building and growing our team and department, if desired.

To learn more about what it’s like to be a Ginger psychiatrist, please reach out to a member of our team.

* Ginger also has part-time opportunities for psychiatrists

Where do members/patients come from?

Members come to Ginger through their company’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP), employer-covered benefits via insurance or employer-paid clinical services, and various health plans, such as Kaiser Permanente.

What populations/specialties does Ginger serve?

In addition to serving adult populations, we recently launched Ginger for Teens, an expansion of our full continuum of mental healthcare for adolescents aged 13-17. Currently, coaching, therapy, psychiatry and guided self-care are only available to teens who reside in the U.S. If you have experience working with this vulnerable population and would like to learn more about opportunities in this area, speak to your recruiter.

Ginger also recently rolled out Ginger in Spanish to provide our Spanish-speaking members with access to high-quality, culturally competent care. If you are bilingual and interested in serving this population, speak to your recruiter.

As we continue to grow, we plan to expand our offerings to include care in additional languages. Stay tuned.

If you’re looking to make a difference,
you’ve come to the right place.

At Ginger, our vision is a world where mental health is never an obstacle.
And we’d love to have you join us to make that vision a reality.
